Softball - game 4

Tonight we played at 8 and practiced at the church next to the Henkel house. I had a great practice in the field and turns out it'd be the only fielding I'd do. I DH'd in the game and went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs. All singles but hey that's not bad.

We took an early lead and never looked back. 15-9 making us 4-0. There was 2 other teams that were undefeated and we just beat one of them. Not sure how the other team did tonight.

Next week we got a double header and I was promised a start!

Visit with the surgeon

Went to St. Marys North today for a surgical consult with Dr. Weast. He informed me I have a large gall stone right at the inlet of my gall bladder so it needs to come out. He told me he has performed hundreds of gall bladder removals and it's a simple process. So we setup the surgery for May 25th at 6:30am. I'll have 5-10 days of recovery and it will be season ending for my softball playin'. I should be able to work a day or 2 after, at least I'm hoping.

Michael Graduation

We took a trip out to Cookeville to see Michael walk across the stage at Tennessee Tech with a degree in engineering. It was the longest graduation I have ever seen. Once his time came Jim and I went down to the floor for some pics and then around to the stage for some more. I had borrowed Travis's camera and got some good shots, I hope.

Later that night they had a little party at the Henkel house. We played some pool and cornhole out on freshly poured concrete. 3 close games but Michael and Sean took 2 of the 3 from Jinx and I.

The Garage Softball game 3

Game 3 is upon us. We met up at Karns middle to practice some then headed to the fields. I spoke with Jinx (our coach) and he let me know I would be starting the dug out due to my gall blander issues. Which was fine and he was just looking out for me. We had 5 extra players today so I figured I'd be riding the bench the whole game.

We played Grace Baptist and for some reason they picked to hit first. This was right after a game that was won with a walk off double. Ohwell, they were hot in the first scoring 7 on us. We put up 1 in the bottom and made it look like it was going to be a long night.

Going into the bottom of 6th 13-11 them, we had 8 minutes left. Out, 2 Singles and an out. 5 minutes left. Single, run scores 13-12. Double, 13-14! Fly out and we take the field up by one! After 2 outs they had a runner on first and second and dude hits a rocket down the third base line....foul! Next pitch the same thing, only it stays fair but Luke, the left fielder gets under and wraps up the game with 40 seconds on the clock. Win number 3 for The Garage!

ER Visit...

So last night ROR had a dinner at a client's house. Wives and gfs were invited for a meixcan meal. We had a great time, talked, drank and played cornhole. I was on my game in cornhole too! Well we called it quits around 9:45 and headed home.

Around 4am I woke up with bad stomach pains. As a rolled around trying to get comfortable the pain spread more and got worse. I finally had to get up. I walked around the house a while before waking Mary up. I told her I was hurting...hurting bad, the worst it's been. When I spoke I felt a shortness of breath and my upper chest was hurting. Mary looked up some info online while I paced. I took some tylenol but the pain was too much so Mary and I decided to take a trip to the ER. By the time we left I was breaking out into a sweat. I was worried about sitting in the car with the pain but I just sorta curled up with the window down and did ok. By the time we got to the ER I was actually feeling better. We checked in and the pain was subsiding. I got put in a room, blood taken, flushed (taste like saline) and an iv installed. I had been in the bed this hold time when normally I can't sit still with the pain. Again the pain was fading and fading fast. This was really strange. Before when I took the tylenol it had no effect. This time is seemed to provide very quick relief. Or the pain started while I was sleeping and ran it's course, luckily while I was out of it? Who knows but the pain pretty much went away by the time the doc came in. He asked me the normal questions felt my stomach and back. We came to the conclusion that since I was not in pain and my surgery consult on Monday that test weren't needed.

I never felt 100% the rest of the day.

Week update

Monday
I had been experiencing some strange stomach and back pains after meals. They actually started a few days before my bday. I woke one morning at 1am with extreme pains in these areas. I wasn't able to ease the pain at all, just had to wait it out. I ended up going to work at 5:30am and worked 8 hours. The pain finally subsided later in the am.

It happened a few more times so today I spent a good part of the day looking for a new doctor. After some back and forth with various places I ended up landing on my old doctor whom I had a tough time with over insurance a while back.

Tuesday
Worked until heading to the doc. I was Dr. Barton whom I had seen before. After a few questions and him poking around on the computer he felt my back and stomach areas. With no soreness he proceeded to tell me his thoughts. He thinks I may have gall stones which are stones in your gall bladder. Or it my be a shrunken outlet on the gall bladder. Both of those symptoms are fixed by gall bladder removal. Stones are found using an ultrasound and the small outlet is seen with a more complicated test at the GI unit at the hospital. If not those then other tests will have to take place. Dr. Barton told me he experienced some of the same symptoms but it was constant for 2 weeks and they decided to just remove his gall bladder and it fixed all his problems.

The gall bladder is not a necessary organ for basic living. Just be a little careful with what you eat a normal living is easy.

They took some blood and scheduled me an ultrasound for Friday at 9:30am.

Wednesday
Today was my last day with a normal work schedule. I have decided to move my part time to split days with DMG and Red On Red. Work 7-12 with DMG and 12:30-5ish with the ROR.

So I worked a full day and met Travis at DTBG for a beer and a movie. We saw Kick-Ass.

And I got to say...it was Kick-Ass! Great movie, great action, good story and a hidden actor the trailer never shows or hints at. I love little surprises like that! After we head back to the bar, which was a bad bad idea.

Thursday
Woke up feeling horrible! Went to work and tried my hardest but around 9:30 I had to give it up. I headed home with hopes to sleep it off so I could head to Travis's house at 12 for some ROR time. I got the call that my blood work came back and everything looked fine.

I woke up about 11:45 feeling a little better so I headed over, stopping for some Subway on the way. I never really got to feeling all that great and I ended up missing our softball game. We won thought! 2-0!

Friday
Went for my ultrasound. It was quick and painless. They told me that once Dr. Barton received the images and reviewed them I'd hear something by late Monday or Tuesday After I headed to Travis's to work. We decided to head to Tomo for lunch where I could use eat sushi and wouldn't be hard on my stomach. As we sat down the phone rang. It was Dr. Bartion's office. They had already reviewed the images and it shows I do in fact have gal stones. She said a surgical consult was needed to determine wither or not to go forward with removal. That consult isn't until May 10th! I was a little shocked but I'm sure that's the earliest they could see me. Luckily my parents don't have to miss Tommy's graduation in Philly on the 8th.
