Titans #1, NFL playoffs start this weekend!

NFL Playoff Schedule

Welp, the stage is set. Titans are playing January 10th and will face either the Ravens, Chargers or Colts. I'm really hoping it's the Chargers after what happened last year. I know we can easily beat the Colts if the secondary shows up and the Chargers are no where as good as they were last year (while we are the best we have ever been, see below). So my only real fear is the Ravens. Their defense is a beast and they seem to have our number. We did best them in the regular season 13-10, but they have improved tenfold on offenese since we last met.

UT mens basketball

One of Dad's friends gave him his tickets for the basketball game and he was nice enough to ask me to go. The seats were good, in the lower level, very close to were Mary and I sat at the Ladies game a few weeks ago. I'm not a huge fan, I found it quite boring for it being such a fast paced game. It was fun and nice to hang out with dad. With about 5 minutes left Wayne Chism went down hard around blocking a break away shot. He laided hard on his back and didn't move. He saw moving his legs and arms but they brought out a stretcher and wheeled him off the court. I read lately that after the fall he didn't know where is was or what was going on, but after a visit to the hospital, early word is that he will be ok.

The one thing to really borthered me about the game was the fans. Not sure if I'm reading into or what, but if the vols scored 90+ points everyone got a free Chick-fil-A sandwich with there ticket stub. Well at the end of the game with 30 or so seconds left everyone was standing up cheering for them to score. We hit a 3 pointer moving the score to 89-62 us. Time expires and the crow starts booing! Wait...didn't we just win? Ooohhhh...right you didn't get your free little sandwich. I was shocked. A Chick-fil-A grilled chicken sandwich can be more than 3 bucks, right? Jeezz how pathetic... When leaving I heard more people complaining about not getting their free sandwich than winning/losing one of our best players.

Ohwell, maybe next time you go to buy your ticket just think of to juicy grilled chicken sandwich you could have instead.

HCD...postponed

The diet has been moved to a later date due to the Holidays. I plan on starting Monday January 5th, 2009. I didn't really have myself mentally prepared for the diet but I'm now starting those preparations.

Christmas!

Had a great Christmas once again! Mary hooked me up! She got me an autographed Joe Montana football!!! I'm still shocked. It was great to get together with family and got to hang out with Mary's folks too!

The diet starts in 4 days! I have been eating like a pig but I'm actually really looking forward to this diet.

Titans smack down the Squeelers

YES YES YES! The Titans hand the Steelers a 31-14 beatdown! We finally shut the mouths of all the naysayers. We were down KVB and Haynesworth but Jason Jones (3rd string) more than replaced AH. Jones had 3.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles which are insane numbers! They really surprised me with this game! I am super excited to see what the future holds. After the win Lendale White was filmed stomping on the "terrible towel" the little towel steelers fans spin around at games and everyone is saying how classless we are and blah blah. Hello, it's football, and the young men are happy. I garantee that all the folks complaining were the punk analsysts, show hosts and commenaters that picked the Steelers. Everyone was on board with the Steelers and we just proved everyone wrong, let them celebrate and give over it! With the win we clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs!

We are currently (one more week of games) the best team in the league with a 13-2 record.

Now I have to decide if I want to actually go to one of the playoff games! There are 2 games that we could play in Jan. Only 2 win at home get us into the playoffs. I hope we can pull it off but so far it has been a GREAT ride!

Not a good day...

So far (over 4 years) I have been one happy employee at my place of work. Lately, not so much. We have hired a new designer (didn't need one in my opinion) and he seems like a backstabbing, stomp everyone in my way sorta guy. I might be reading him wrong but that's how I feel as of now. Dude's been here maybe 4 months give or take and he is designing our new website. To me, that's total BS and I can't believe I'm the only one that is on the edge of losing it over this. The 3 designers (including me) have 4 + years tenure on this guy and he gets our site? I have heard that he just took it and ran without anyone's knowledge, designing and coding. Well, this has finally made it's impact on me and I'm furious about it. Our delivery man has more time with this company than him yet, he knows us best? He knows the best way to rep us? I think not. The site is boring, informational (which anything would be compared to our current site), but just BORING! On top of that I found out he makes more than I do! HOLY %@^#! are you kidding me? He has made best buds with one of the bosses here. I take it one of 2 ways: he is in dire need of human interaction or/and he is weaseling his way in, maybe to take a art director position? Not in a million years bud! Well that's the end of my venting. Maybe I'm wrong, I could be but I'm not convinced yet.

Valkyrie

My dad got a few tickets to the sneak preview of Valkyrie which was last night. Mom, dad, Carolyn, Paul, Dale, Mary and I all went. We ate at the Downtown Grill and Brewery before the movie and got done right in time. We showed up at the theater about 45 minutes before start time and there were quite a few people in line already.

They made a HUGE stink over having a phone with a camera on it. I found it to be funny, someone must of been doing it and was caught. Maybe Regal has made some threats. Enjoying the occasional GOOD bootleg I can say, you'd have to pay me good money to get me to watch a whole movie recorded with a camera phone. The most popular process is called TS (Telesync) and takes quite a bit of work from what I have heard. Besides knowing someone at a theater, one would have to get a nice, expensive setup (camera and tripod at least) to match the few I have seen. Some even plug directly into the projector to get audio. Knowing this, it just makes me laugh at both sides, the folks enforcing camera phones need to be off or the kid, "Dude I got Valkyrie on my phone...well not all of it just half cause I ran out of space...and you once you get over the motion sickness you can almost tell it's Tom Cruise!"

To the movie. It's based on a true story and I'm not a huge history buff or anything but I do know that Hitler was not killed by any overthrowers, he killed himself. So this tells me the ending, give or take. I also was expecting tons of subtitles seeing how it's about "Hilter's" Germany and all, but nope apparently when Hilter has hangin' with his buds or taking care of internal stuff he spoke perfect english. I was also suprised to see Eddie Lizzard had a roll. I will say it had some intense momments, but for some reason I expected more action. Tad on the boring side and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but prehaps watching it on a raining day on USA, as long as Saving Private Ryan isn't on another channel.

Titans, Titans.....Titans

I'm still in shock over our one point loss yesterday to the Texans. I'm embarrassed by the play calling, the lack of focus by the offense, especially KFC, and most of all Fisher. We started out looking good...for about 3 minutes, then totally went flat. McCareins just needs to be benched. Hawkins, our rookie WR, would of done a MUCH better job. But let's also not forget the fact that Collins had just a horrible day. To my disbelief we didn't double team Andre Johnson who had a career high 207 yards receiving. 4th and 3 at the Texans 30 or 40 something and Fisher decides to go for it??...with a Collins to McCareins pass for over 15 yards? Are you kidding me Fisher? Besides the fact to Scaife has great hands and CJ can usually fall down and get 3, Bironas is more than capable of hitting a 50 yarder and has done it numerous times for us. Let's see, Rob hits the feild goal with 2 minutes left, puts us up by 2. They are forced to execute pass plays (instead of getting the ball on downs, needing to run time off the clock and go with runs only to have big Al go down with possibly a season ending injury) and Schabb in his haste throws an INT, game over, 13-1. I know in all probability it wouldn't have gone down that way but still...way better than going with a pass play from a flat QB to a lame, old washed up WR. Come on!! We once again we lost this game ourselves, we were not beaten!

This game, along with the last 3, have just scared me. We should be getting better going into the playoffs, not getting worse. After that horrible showing I'm scared to death of the Steelers game coming up. We could secure home feild advantage throughout the playoffs with a win. Maybe they will get their act together, but I really (as much as it hurts) don't see it.

My first header has been retired for something a little less crazy, more mellow and calm. Plus that craziness didn't really fit my style.

HC Diet countdown...t-minus 17 days

17 days from today is December 27th, 2008, exactly 6 months until the wedding. I will start an intense dieting/workout regiment. I am currently weighting in around 220 pounds. The goal is to get down to 180. I will soon add a workout and diet schedule. My last workout was over the period of 3 months and I went cold turkey, working out regularly and eating very well. I lost 28 pounds and fell off the wagon on the NYC trip and never recovered. As of now I'm calling it HCD (Hardcore Diet) let see if it sticks.

Shame on me for letting Mary drive the S with bad tires! At least I was in it when this one went flat.

Here's what she looks like now. The 2 front stockers will be added this weekend. It's going to roll on the stocks for a while. I have to get some new tires on the Evo first.

Titans win AFC South, Division Champs!!

They also secured a first-round bye!

They have 3 tough regular season games left. I like they have a very good chance at finishing out the year with 3 more wins. We just need to not drop the ball when visiting a rejuvenated Houston Texans team.
