RIOT INK: First big poster run

We got our first big poster job for a 10 Years show. The poster was and interesting design Alex thought up and Travis brought to life. It was a 3 color design and we need 105. 25 to give away to go up in shops, 75 to sell at the show and 5 for us.

Travis and I started on the first color around 4:30.

Alex showed up around 6:20 when we finished the first color. He started some stuff he needed to do and Travis and I ran to grab a bit to eat at... you guessed it, Hooters.

After din din, we started on color number 2, the black. I had to run home to let the pups out. After I return the black was about 30% done. Alex was printing and Travis and I were hanging/trying to find a place to put them. You'll see below we had them everywhere!

It was 10pm by this point so we decided to run 20 in the 3rd/money color that were to be delivered tomorrow.

3rd and final color, gold! I think it turned out great. It was a ton of fun and we still have 85 more to run the gold on. Travis can't decided last night if he wanted to knock them out during the day Wednesday or if he wanted to wait until I could get over there. I'm guessing he'll wait, haha.

RIOT INK: Printing our first big shirt job

Trav Alex and I ran our first big job today. Run of 50 for Andy Wood
and a run of 30 for Adoration
Andy Wood shirt, it's actually a chocolate shirt with light tan print. I printed most of these myself and now have the process down pat!

Our current work area.

Burning a screen.

We had trouble with this one screen for some reason. We think we had to much emulsion on the screen. We burned 5 or 6 screens before we got one we were happy with.

50 finished Adoration shirts

Almost 50 finished wings! Our award for working so hard :)

RIOT INK: First shirt design

Travis and I have started silk screening. I made a quick design and went through the process last night. We ran around a bit looking for some transparent paper and found some at Hobby Lobby. Once we get the design ready we printed it on the transparency. It didnt look to hot so we decided to run it through again on a different setting. We both figured we'd get a ghosted image but it actually turned out nice. Only the bottom portion was off a tad. Next we burned it into a screen. Travis had already applied some emulsion to a screen and it was ready to go. We got everything ready and hit the light. We let it expose for about 20 minutes. Once it was good and burned in we hit it with the hose (Travis had just got a new fireman nozzle) and Travis said that was the best rinse his had yet. We put the screen in front of a fan and let it sit for a while.
Well now it was time to see how she'd do. Ran a tester and it seemed to turn out pretty nice. We through a shirt it and went for it. As you can tell in the image it turned out pretty nice!
We printed 2 shirts. The black one has some cool experimental dual ink usage. We are currently thinking of a company name and are hot on working on our next shirt. We also are searching for a 4 color screen system.
